Teaching material in Swedish as a second language has long been the foremost concentration at Folkuniversitetets förlag. Further development has resulted in the inclusion of other modern languages and the publishing house now offers a wide variety of teaching materials for different languages, levels and forms of study.

Our study materials are designed to facilitate the practical use of language in everyday life. The books often use dialogues as a basis for learning, these usually take place in familiar surroundings and situations. Dialogues and other texts are available on cassettes, cd:s or mp3-files, to enable practice in listening comprehension and pronunciation. Culture and society are predominant themes. Other teaching materials are available to practise grammar, vocabulary and writing skills.

History

Folkuniversitetets förlag was originally known as Kursverksamhetens förlag, founded in 1972. The name was changed in the year 2000 to indicate the link with the parent company, Folkuniversitetet. The company has maintained its emphasis on the publication of Swedish as a second language. A recently published teaching aid for Swedish as a foreign language, På svenska!, targets university students both in Sweden and abroad.

The Board of Directors of Folkuniversitetets förlag comprises members chosen by Folkuniversitetet in Lund.
