På svenska! 1-3 is a teaching material which enables students to attain base level knowledge of the Swedish language. Its aim is to facilitate participation in everyday conversation after a short time without spending so much time on grammar practice.

På svenska! 1 is of level A1 and A2 on the scale from the Council of Europe (CEFR). It can an also be used by students who choose the self-study route. Pronunciation and grammar are explained in the student’s own language making learning effective.

The textbook comprises 12 sections with short stimulating dialogues and other texts. In the texts students follow a group of Swedes in their everyday lives and holidays. Glimpses of different parts of Sweden are also given. Special pictorial pages facilitate vocabulary learning. Useful phrases for everyday language situations are presented throughout the book. Listening comprehension exercises accompany each section providing early practice in understanding the spoken language.

The book comes with a cd with mp3 files, it contains texts, phrases, listening comprehension exercises from the text book and parts of the pronunciation section from the study booklet.

The exercise book contains additional training exercises on the grammar points raised in the text book. It also includes other exercises such as short essays, dialogues and crosswords. The student can work with these exercises at home.

The study booklet is available in several languages, it contains four sections:
• Pronunciation with guide and texts with the emphasis on pronunciation
• Grammar with explanations and examples
• Glossary (alphabetical glossary and list of phrases)
• Answers to questions and exercises in the text book and exercise book.

The study booklet will be published in English, German and Chinese during the fall. Booklets in other languages will be produced throughout the year.

Note: The study booklet differs from earlier editions foremost through changes in the dictionary. The dictionary has been supplemented with new words and the page references have been changed to match the new edition. New language editions/supplements will be published in 2010-2011.

På svenska! 1 can be used both as a course book with a teacher or for self studies. The study booklet is available in several languages, this gives the student an opportunity to have for example pronunciation and grammar explained in their mother tongue, this makes learning efficient.

A new educational material in Chinese for adult beginners.

Kinesiska för nybörjare is a beginner’s course suitable for adults or students of upper secondary school.

The book is based on short dialogues in Chinese, written in Pinyin and translated into Swedish. Every section contains new words, expressions, grammar, exercises and texts about China and the Chinese culture, these texts are in Swedish. The students will learn to write Chinese characters step by step. Kinesiska för nybörjare consists of a text book and a CD with recordings of all the texts. A Chinese – Swedish dictionary and key to the exercises is included in the end of the book.

Authors Chengyu Wang and Xuenan Wang-Fredengren are born in China, they both teach Chinese in upper secondary school.

Prosím is a new teaching material in Czech. This book will help the student to reach level A1 on the scale from the Council of Europe. To achieve this, 30-40 hours of studies are required.

Prosím, being easy and entertaining, is the perfect book for beginners. The aim is to teach the student common words that can be used in light conversation, to ask and answer questions, phrases about oneself, one’s family and the surroundings.

The book consists of eight chapters of simple dialogue, an introduction to pronunciation and a short section of Czech grammar. A key to the exercises, dictionaries and a recording of the dialogues are also included. Another service offered is interactive exercises online, www.folkuniversitetetsforlag.se.

Writers Peter Rovan and Pierangelo Sassola are both teachers at Folkuniversitetet, Peter Rovan teaches Slavic language and Pierangelo Sassola has written several other language books published by Folkuniversitetets förlag.
